![]() Some days I just can't find the words to put words on the word place. They are there, I know it, I have them in my head but life is going on around me. Sticky notes are everywhere in my house as I think of ideas. One fell into the toilet last night and I just didn't have the strength to retrieve it and now I've forgotten it; was it a brilliant book idea? Do you find yourself writing at 3 in the morning? That is when if the phone rings, it better be the police and it clearly won't be a salesperson. That is when the kids are asleep, or better be. That is when there isn't anything open nearby to distract you with any "oh crap I forgot the drycleaning" so you run out and don't get back to writing for 2 hours.

Today I had it, I was going to write! I have a request for some of my stuff from an editor and I told her "Friday, no problem" and I was set. House cleaned up, kid settled with homework that didn't require my assist, phone set on silent, two beverages at the ready, I was in good shape. 'Til the knock on my door, a neighbor needing help right now, not later, not in an hour, but right now. I could say no, yes. I know, however, I'd be distracted by what she needed and how much of a crappy neighbor am I to not help when needed. Three hours later I was back at the document and wasn't in the mood anymore. |

This is for those of us that have the love and desire but also live busy lives. Also for those of us that are sick and tired of hearing others say "just do it, just write"
